well i exaggerated a little yes basically they will silence you if thats all they need, and anything you say can be unsafe. examples would be if someone had a service thread and you posted that you werent happy with the service, that gets removed for "naming and shaming". when they cant remove, they suspend you. for example if you report someone as a basic rotation scammer ingame, you get 15 min suspension even if you told the truth, also for "naming and shaming". if you repeat that, you get 2h. talking about politics immediately gets your threads removed, and if you do it ingame you get 2h minimum. if you lets say do basic statistics and say that black people are more likely to commit crimes, you get muted for more ofc and if you repeat talking shit like i did, you get permanently banned from the forums

i once got my name changed for my character being named gaaaaay. and i knew i couldnt do shit by complaining how thats retarded. so instead i pmed support and said how im gay irl and i felt oppressed for not being able to express my sexuality because they renamed my char. they started apologizing and renamed it back i have screenshot even!

well the game is *technically* free i mean the stash tabs are a paywall which you will see very soon as you cant really play with only the default 4, but you arent forced to spend $ on the game at all !

you can easily play the whole game without tabs, but if you play more than 100 hours you might as well grab some and support the game

play the game however you want, there is room for just about everything and every style (except competitive pvp or active pvp)
if you want to just feel it out you can do so easily through the campaign, if you want to start with a step up and a plan you can do that as well with lots of youtube and forum guides available for dozens of builds.

for feeling the game out I would recommend checking out Hardcore Solo Self-found character setups for more reasonable gearing options and an enjoyable game play. Many of the softcore builds are hundreds of exalts and glass cannons built for zooming - even the ones that claim to be cheap.
poe ninja is a solid site to check out for popular characters/skills among the top players.

Thanks im gonna look at that for sure. I started softcore to get a feel on the difficulty first but i might switch . Im very good at d2 pvm’ing but entering a brand new system is another thing

yup, didnt mean you had to play hcssf, just that comparing builds on there is more realistic item acquisition and the characters are more likely to be well rounded for survivability
poe is built on one and two 'tap' mechanics that are hard or impossible sometimes to see, or even know what hit you - kind of like glitched lister in d2.. but everywhere.

Not sure i get the lister glitch but i guess im gonna understand when it happens. I started with a witch (surprise!) i like it for now but i didnt play much yet : tonight ill see for real

Most people fuck up their first character. This is normal, intentional and teach the player about optimize builds. Following guide can save time but be sure you learn WHY they do the thing and not just repeat them. It will help you.

The game much more fun after you complete act 10

Game is not job. If you are not enjoying part of game, especially after acts are done, stop doing it. Switch to something else. There are many way to play.

There is always something that can kill you.

If you kill a boss in one hit you do not have to learn boss mechanics. This might ruin the fun for you but it is a consideration

More damage is not the same as increased damage

Expect nerfs. Developer operates under “game should be hard” design rule and balance changes, design priorities are intended to make you spend more time playing the game.

Evasion does not work the way you think it does. It is much better.

In d2 it is almost impossible to die in PvM. PoE is much different.
Expect to die.
