Some of this has already been said but
- check your resistances (75@), you'll get -30 penalty each time you kill kitava in the story mode (-60 total)
- check your life (2k+)
- have enough dps (upgrade weapons)
- use insta healing potions (craft them with alt orbs)
it was my gear, i was streaming and thankfully some really nice people came in and helped me get my gear in order
