You're using math for the wrong thing.

to 5 off color a chest where you don't need links, you can vorici bench sockets 1 at a time. That way every time you secure a colored socket of your choice, you move on to the next recipe. 2 sockets, 3 sockets, 4 sockets, 5 sockets.
