Yes it is. And like other people have said, it's worth paying for these, and they are not expensive at all. You will be whispered in game by people looking at official POE trade site, or POE Trade with a message they have copy/pasted from browser. It's way better than D2, I wouldn't say that it is better than an AH though.

However I primarily use acquisition to be able to sell items I’m using in a character which I do if I’m in a trade league as I like trading and flipping when I’m not playing ssf.

aquisition shows the stuff you put in trade via premium tabs as well

so you can use aquisition for checking, yes, i would however never again fall back to trading just with this tool and not use premium tabs since you can so easy put stuff into trade when ingame

The thing is you can price entire tabs with aquisition just like a premium tab, so in theory it could work just like a premium tab but without the way it looks. However I do use premium tabs myself, for me, the combo is what I prefer.
