Game devs gotta make money, when this kinda stuff isn't gameplay invasive.

Think of it this way, how much it cost you for a movie ticket? How long did it entertain you?

Now refer to how much in game time time you have vs your game money spent, lets face it, PoE is cheap entertainment already.

What it mostly is how cheap of a person you are. Or your financial situation. with F2p game models, just playing and spread of influence is a form of payment in itself.

It was already planned by Chris Wilson's sister years ago, but it was supposed to be void leagues...
Im suspecting GGG will make it in few steps like they did with nerfs on some items, mechanics, or skill nodes:
- in 6 months the payment leagues will have same drop rates/rewards than "normal" leagues
- in 12 months the drop rates will be superior because some mods will be allowed etc...

It cant be considered as a whole immediately, they have time on their side.

how about you actually read the announcement first

these private leagues only make the game harder, this presents no fairness issues to the economies that they are moving their characters into

I'm pretty sure this means there won't be any extra rarity/quantity mods

So it's literally just making the game harder, no extra benefits.
