but more importantly the game is absolutely not free. you are heavily gimped unless you pay for certain stash tabs, making the game unplayable. if you dont trust me, make a new acc and try it ^_^ "free to play/game as a service" is a business model, and it works damn well due to how peoples brains are wired. you THINK the decision is put on you, but it isnt, as you are progressively pushed into spending by using carefully implemented psychology tricks (psychologists are now being hired en masse by gaming companies, this is why). and lemme tell you brother, that is way less ethical than the "pay to own the game" model we had 20 years ago. pls dont fall for that brother :cry:

also the problem is not about controlling yourself, its about someone controlling you. i cant see how you are defending ggg for this and instead attacking people who simply dont wanna deal with it. its one thing to mute someone who uses a macro to spam the living shit out of a channel and ruins ppls experience, but completely different to mute someone for saying "trump 2024" in global 1 <_< now i dont wanna gaslight, but if someone cant handle normal talk in a global chat, maybe it just isnt for him. if you cant handle that someone said kurwa jebany, close the chat and move on instead of ruining the experience for others by having someone police their speech

i defend the game because, as i said above, i get mad about people just sayin its not a good game because they play bad. if you are to lazy to play the game right, or just dont have the time for it, i can understand that 100%.. you can still swap to Last Epoch / Diablo3/4 and enjoy it more than PoE since there isnt that much depht. nothing wrong with that

and about that chat - mute thing.. it is about controlling yourself. you dont walk around in the public shouting kurwa jebany to someones face, because if you meet the wrong person it is not gonna end well. you are "anonymous" in the game, so people just talking crazy shit. Since not everyone enjoys insulting language or politic discussions in their "hobby - freetime", you get reportet - and muted.

more important is - the game is absolutely free.. you know - when you enter steam and you can download the game + play it as long as you want to without spending a dime, it is free.
i got mates that played 3 seasons without any spent money. Of course, if you want to play effective and high end-game, you will need those stash-tabs at a certain point. however, you can try that game for a whole season, you can do whatever other players can without paying. can you do that in Diablo or Last Epoch or Last Ark or any ARPG?

of course there is marketing behind that whole game, how the fuck should they make money out of it otherwise.. "pay to own the game" is history, get over it. its 2024 every big multiplayer game got something to make money. even some singleplayer games do

about the mute thing, yeah i just disagree. actually even the analogy is kinda bad here so i dont understand why so many ppl use it. for example if you played a game, an actual irl game such as football or basketball, its completely normal to shout at someone different slurs, its part of the game, a way to vent and completely normal talk. the whole "you dont say this to someones face" is just wrong, you do. at least you did before libs came to power. when i played basketball in high school, talking shit during games was normal, and yes rarely it would end up in a fight, but that was also normal, and i have no idea when that changed :unsure:

the game is not free and you are brainwashed, idk what else to tell you. first of all the (questionable) fact that you got friends that played seasons without spending money, doesnt negate the fact that 95% ppl in poe will have spent some amount on something, and most of them didnt do it to "support a free game", they did it because they were pushed into it because you cant get past act5 without your stash getting cluttered into oblivion <_< and once you get pushed into spending at least some cash, it snowballs into oblivion with you spending way way more than you would have on a regular game. so no, you dont need stash tabs if you want to be effective. you need stash tabs if you want to do pretty much anything. you cant even trade normally without paid tabs

as for that last thing, yes they are allowed to make money on the business model, but calling it "free to play" is a misnomer kinda like the term "AI". in reality it should be called "free to play but heavily gimped", the rebranding alone would make ppl think twice before investing. which is why i always mention that to new players. guess what, there are no new players after that :mellow:

if you start the game without rush, take your time and enjoy it you will understand the league mechanics and their modifier wich comes along with them. see, I have already guided several people through the start of the game and i know the struggles. some people quit at the start, not even finishing a1 - they look at the tree and the skill gems and are like "whatever"

idk whats so hard to understand. you can play the whole game without spending money. if you dont like it, deinstall and you just lost your time, nothing else. if you like it and want the quality of life changes that stash tabs give you, you buy the support pack once wich is around 30 bucks and you got all the stash tabs needed.
look i've spent 60 € in that game and i've played around 2.5k hours
but i have spent 70€ for diablo 4 and played it around 20 hours.
now if poe wasnt that good, i would have quit after 20 hours and would have spent nothing, while for blizzards diablo4 i allready had to spend money (70€!) to just try if it is good.
i could have spent 0 € in poe and quit, but i could not in diablo 4
