Zombies are the equivalent to the D2 skeleton necro. You can get 13 of them fairly easy. 14 will take more investment and anything past 14 will be a huge investment. I've done everything besides sirius with my zombie mancer this league. I have not tried him since the last patch though that supposedly nerfed alot of the damage that was insta killing my 47k life zombies with tons of regen. So I might try it again. The fact is that they are by far the easiest thing to get up and running at this point. Little to no investment will have you clearing red maps if you're careful. I've been playing them for 5 years and constantly progressing and trying different things with them. My main focus on them the last 2 years is speed farming. I clear maps extremely fast and I fly around maps with whirling blades causing very little downtime. They got nerfed VERY hard this league by way of life pool and some damage, but they're still the second top played skill on poe ninja which shows how useful they really are. Alot of people main spectres, but you don't get any life steal with them. With zombies you throw on a baron and they replenish your health constantly while hitting enemies which is a HUGE plus for survivability.
I also loved the D2 necro and pushed him to the max at one point. If you haven't tried zombies yet you really should. I will say that their AI can be really bad at times, but you learn to work around it. They can drift away from you when an enemy is directly in front of you for no reason, leaving you defenseless. They also are very bad at killing enemies directly near walls and certain objects. It's like they don't even register them until they move sometimes, very weird.
