Game has a 36mb update


Last night it took a hour to unpack 1.3mb....

Tonight I uninstalled the game and I'm downloading the stand alone client.

If my steam is connected to my poe account can I still use my steam account?

Also why does it take so long for the game to unpack with steam.

it's always like that for steam, highly recommend using the standalone client

currently downloading it. will i still be able to access my account if its linked through steam?

/e my internet is quite shit so im getting maybe maybe max 10mb a second soooo.. its gonna take some time..

when i move it to my ssd will i have better luck with updates and what not?

hmm, google says that you might have to submit a support ticket for them to make a change to allow the steam account work via the standalone client - they are all old articles though so hard to say if somethings changed.


the steam version of the game comes with heaps of extra bloat - i THINK it's verification files but not 100% sure, the standalone client game size will probably be half the size of the steam one you will find. Just switching to the standalone client will make your updating experience better, having patches come through after a game crash is really common on league starts as they are patching quite often and people don't close their games that often so it just applies it when it can

welp i was at 60% chance of installing and my internet went out soooo now i gotta redo the installation

hopefully it resumes where i left off..

so i did this yesterday for the exact same reasons

contacted GGG support
they asked me my steam id, poe acc name, and the names of some characters on the account
then told me to go to official website, log in through steam, and add an email address

after that it's all good, you can log in through the standalone client.

my poe installation went down from 30 gb to 20 gb by doing this lmao, steam version is terrible
