i've been playing VERY casually for like 2 years and this year i'm starting to play more, my irons are all going the same distance when i hit them straight and when i try to increase lag or swing through more they slice badly.

i'm talking VERY weak when i hit them straight.. like 120 on a 4 iron

occasionally they do go straight and a bit far though but still not to the level that would seem reasonable

Sounds like a contact issue, obviously. Work on bringing your club straight back and then rotating your hips all in one motion toward your target.

You're not hitting the ball on the club sweet spot properly. Work on impact, keep your head down and finish your swing the whole way through and pose.

Rotation is critical when you have a slice.

i wish i could do this, used to hit my 4 iron consistently about 200-210, now i struggle to get 150... but i really only golf casually, never competitive other than bragging rites with my dad and uncle

thats not too uncommon...I know a lot of people that don't even use beyond a 6iron and jump to a fairway wood or hybrid.

I unfortunately don't have either so I have to rely on my ability to hit up to my 4 iron lol...I do well, however I used my friends burner 3wood and was very satisfied.

yeah i went to the driving range a few times and then played a round a couple days ago and noticed quite an improvement. i'm hitting most of my shots straight however they're still generally short. i did get really good contact on a couple of shots, one specific hit my 8 iron about 140 right onto the back of the green, i think now it's just about getting into a pattern and working on consistency with my aim and distance will come the more i practice

e: i was slicing because i was coming over the top, if i take a couple practice swings before my shot and note the swing path by watching my club head i can almost always correct this on the actual shot

Honestly, it makes no sense logically that your irons could go the same distance.
