I've been thinking about this for a couple days now. Come tax returns, I am going to spend my entire return on a Titleist AP2 iron set, and Titleist Vokey wedges.

Well, now I'm trying to figure how exactly I want to pick my 14 clubs. Here are my options:
  • Driver, 3-Wood, 5-Wood, 4-P, Gap Wedge, 56 Degree, 60 Degree, Putter. (14 Clubs)
  • Driver, 5-Wood, 3-P, 52 Degree, 56 Degree, 60 Degree, Putter. (14 Clubs)
  • Driver, 5-Wood, 3-P, Gap Wedge, 56 Degree, 60 Degree, Putter. (14 clubs)
  • Driver, 3-Wood, 5-Wood, 3-P, 54 Degree, 60 Degree, Putter. (14 clubs)
Really, those are the 4 options I have, and I'm really not leaning towards any one more than the other right now. I'm not sure exactly how I want to break down my 14 clubs.

*NOTE: Driver, 5-Wood, Putter are already bought and are not negotiable. The Irons, Wedges, and 3-Wood are negotiable. The AP2 Gap Wedge is a 51 Degree.

So, figured I'd make a topic and get some input from you guys? Maybe even share your bags?

Thanks!

Your first option is exactly the format of my bag

Driver, 3-Wood, 5-Wood, 4-P, Gap Wedge, 56 Degree, 60 Degree, Putter. (14 Clubs)

My gap is a 50 degree.

So I have a 6 degree gap going from 50-56. I have going to get a 54-58

you can get around not having a 3 iron. But your game 100 yards in is where you score
I wish i could play as good as i think

I want my tax return back now :(

I want to buy more golf stuff :(

Leaning towards option 1 now. Both meatsticks and labattblue seem to agree with it as well.

Yeah, the only problem with it is that there is a small gap between the 50degree and 56. Which is why some people would instead carry 3 wedges.

But since your gap wedge is a 51 degree, it will be an even smaller gap, and you might consider wedges with 54/58 degrees instead of 56/60

But either way, when all is said and done, I have no problem with my short game even with that little gap.

Yeah, my pitching wedge will be 47, gap wedge 51, and my two wedges at 56 and 60.

4 degrees between pitch and gap, 5 degrees between gap and first wedge, 4 degrees between first wedge and second wedge. This scenerio is actually almost perfect. Since I think my AP2's rise up the irons in 4 degree increments anyway.

I think that's what I'll do. Going with option 1 :)

Are you comfortable with fairway woods? Too bad your 5-Wood is non-negotiable.
I carry Driver, 3-Wood, 2-P, 56 degree Sand Wedge, 60 Degree Lob Wedge, Putter.
I get enough power on my 2-Iron to eliminate any other fairway woods.

Just wondering your reasoning behind carrying two fairway woods with 4-P combo.

I hit my woods very well, better than any other club. I struggle the most with my longest irons, especially the 3-iron, so I know a 2-iron would be even worse. So it made the most sense for my style and abilities to go 4-P with woods.

Drive, 3wood, 3-P, 52, 56, 60 (Or gap sand lob at own decisions obv) OR Drive, 3wood, 5wood, 4-P and three wedges I think should be what ur choosing between.

My self I stick with drive and a spoon as my only metal woods, since im safe enought with my 3iron instead of a hybrid or 5wood.

That's what I'm leaning towards :)
(1 of the 3 wedges will be the AP2 Gap wedge, 51 degree)
