Im a righty, and on my drive only I slice the ball terribly every time

I can hit for like 300+ when I hit straight but slicing completely ruins half of my tee shot.

I've heard that i need to choke up on the club that it is too long is this right?

I have been teaching golf lessons professionally for 12 years and the number one problem for all amateurs is the slice. It's either a slice that starts left and moves right, or even more dangerous is the slice that starts at the target and moves right. Want to know the main reason for this? easy... your clubface is open.

The best way to cure this is with forearm rotation, make it feel like your right forearm is "coming over your left one" during the downswing. That will help close the clubface and help you to hit straighter shots.

it really comes down to clubface angle at impact, and clubhead path. most people that slice the ball cut across it with an open clubface, try to come from the inside more (swing around your body, instead of in front of it) and close that clubface before impact

ok so what you're saying is i just need to basically make sure my forearm of my right arm does not rotate clockwise during my swing?

right, should rotate counter clockwise and come over the top of your left forearm. just try it in a practice swing and see how it closes the clubface

also another tip, if you buy any club "off the rack" at a golf shop, i think every driver i know of except the i15 comes with the clubface between 1-2 degrees shut because the amateur hits a slice.

I used to slice because I would leave my club face open.

most of the golfers have a slice in there shoot, open the club too much and and laying back too much.
