I have a question...
On this course, making the cut and ending with +10 or over is a very real possibly for A LOT of golfers given the course.
IMO, the MC penalty should have been tougher as I think there is going to be quite a few golfers who make the cut and end with a +10 or higher. I mean shit the projected cut was +8 and there is only 3 players in the field under par.
I can already see it as a flaw in this challenge, the MC penalty should have been higher. Possibly have some sort of relationship to the projected cut line per tournament. Essentially in this challenge the penalty is only +2 for missing the cut. That's unacceptable A lot of the golfers chosen who missed the cut shot HIGH than +10. So they got a break for missing the cut? What up with that!
For example:
Luke Donald +11
Vijay Singh +13
The MC penalty should be changed per tournament as +10 for this US Open is NOT enough. People shouldn't be getting BETTER scores for missing the cut IMO. Maybe Projected cut + a number.
Two possible remedies I can think off. If you player misses the cut, add a +5 to there score (Or any other predetermined number, +8, +10, etc). So taking Luke Donald above as an example, he shot +11, missed the cut, his score for this challenege should be +16 then. A 5 shot penalty per golfer for missing the cut.
-OR-
Take the projected cut off each tournament, in this case the projected cut of the US Open was +8, take +8 and add a predetermined number to it like +10.
Don't worry Meatsticks, it's only your second hosting of this challenge and we're still ironing out the details. We'll continue to see what works and what doesn't to make this challenge as fair and accurate as possible for everyone. You're doing a good job, Keep up the good work!
