I played 18 yesterday morning and I had to put my driver away because my slice was too dramatic for the fairways that are too closely lined with houses for my slice :( Didn't want to break a window :(

But yeah, the slice is my #1 problem. The very few times I've been able to luckily hit the ball straight at what I would consider my ideal swing speed, I was able to carry "Range" balls 250 yards in the air, so it excites me what I can do with real balls if I can fix my slice :( Literally when the slice starts, it starts going completely horizontal and travels like 100 yards out and 150 yards to the right... :(

I have a long back yard, so I'll be trying out different techniques hitting foam balls with my driver in my backyard.

if you slice badly, when you're in your stance, don't do anything different but drop ur right foot back a few inches... Seems pretty simple, but it works for most golfers.

this is a decent tip because it encourages an inside to outside clubhead path

So get this.

I was really struggling at my outing this morning with my driver (TBH I was struggling with everything I had, was a bad day.)

I was slicing really bad again, and I got so frustrated that on the last drivable hole, I switched my grip from the standard thumbs down the shaft, to a full blown baseball bat grip. And I hit it dead nuts straight (and far)..... :(

Why?????? :( Is this a bad grip? Everyone I've always talked to said you don't want to hold the club like a baseball bat grip :(
I only did it once though, so I don't know what would happen if I kept doing it like that. I might be over thinking considering I completely sucked at my outing today :(

(I forgot to try the right foot back a couple inches. I will try that at the range next time I go)

it's basically a bad grip for a few reasons. I always teach to hold the club in your fingers, and the baseball grip encourages you to hold the club more in your palms. Also, if your thimbs are down the shaft they help to provide more stability near the top to downswing transition.

you probably hit it straighter because you were pissed, and put more right hand into the shot rotating your forearms better.

I have used a baseball grip since I was 5 years old, and i've been scratch since 14. It's not a grip most golf professionals recommend, but there are people who are succesful with it.

Well I finally got to the range to try out the baseball grip. Didn't really change much for me, and addressing the ball just felt awkward. So back to the correct grip I go (minus the finger-interlocking).

I tried the right foot a half a step back approach, and though I still had a slice to it, it was dramatically less. I'd almost call it a fade. But still... it's too much.

The slice is probably the number 1 thing that causes new golfers to quit the game, because right now I'm frustrated as crap! I was hitting my irons very well. Take out the driver, and then I start slicing like mad :(

Ahh!

come from the inside into the ball (flatten your swing plane out and swing around your body), use your forearms to close the clubface, Donate fg im broke
