So get this.
I was really struggling at my outing this morning with my driver (TBH I was struggling with everything I had, was a bad day.)
I was slicing really bad again, and I got so frustrated that on the last drivable hole, I switched my grip from the standard thumbs down the shaft, to a full blown baseball bat grip. And I hit it dead nuts straight (and far).....

Why??????

Is this a bad grip? Everyone I've always talked to said you don't want to hold the club like a baseball bat grip

I only did it once though, so I don't know what would happen if I kept doing it like that. I might be over thinking considering I completely sucked at my outing today

(I forgot to try the right foot back a couple inches. I will try that at the range next time I go)
it's basically a bad grip for a few reasons. I always teach to hold the club in your fingers, and the baseball grip encourages you to hold the club more in your palms. Also, if your thimbs are down the shaft they help to provide more stability near the top to downswing transition.
you probably hit it straighter because you were pissed, and put more right hand into the shot rotating your forearms better.
