I went after work to try out some clubs. I tried the R11 3-wood, 5-wood, and 3-hybrid. By far and away the one I hit most consistently and in the range I want it, was the 5 wood.

The 3-hybrid was also nice.

For some reason, I could not hit that 3 wood worth a crap. It was consistently shorter and get this, higher trajectory, than the 5 wood I was hitting. I just couldn't swing it, and quickly didn't like it. :(

I spent a good hour in the simulator trying all three clubs out, since the store was pretty empty and slow, they let me stay in there. I'm going to have to say, I started leaning towards the 5 wood again when I was swinging all of them. Since it was the R11, I brought it down to 18 degrees from standard 19, and according to their simulator I was hitting ~230 with the 5 wood (when my inconsistent, inexperienced, new self actually hit it right and how I should), a couple times it read 240 with roll, which is exactly where I want it to be. Comfortably between my driver and 3-iron.

I hit all 3 both off the tee, and on the turf.

So judging by feel, comfort, predicted distance by the simulator, and how i hit the driver and 3-iron, it seemed that the 5 wood was the perfect fit for me. So you guessed it, I ended up buying the 5 wood.

Also, I tried on the Adidas Adipure in 13 while I was there (I ordered my pair on the internet and they haven't arrived yet) and omg they felt amazing, and fit so perfect. I thought about you meatstick because it truely was like walking on a cloud. I'm very happy I bought those. Cant wait to receive them!

Get whatever works for your game, if the 5-wood is giving you what you want, then the 5-wood it is :P

Yeah, just the way I swing, and hit the other clubs, it just happened to fit perfectly. I'm happy I got to use that simulator for as long as I did, it really did help out a lot. I was happy with it.

So... hmmm.... I wonder what I should buy next. Scotty Cameron putter? I think so :)

I'm not that good, I just started playing last summer.

But, I've completely fell in love with golf, and have a fine taste in equipment. I'm in a situation now where I can splurge a little on golf. So, I do want to take advantage of it while I can before I can't. I'm looking forward to having a set of clubs in my bag that I can keep and use for a very long time.

Scotty Cameron makes the best putters, hands down. I play a Ping Redwood and it's nice, going to play the new Ping Forged putter this year. Im under contract to play Ping equipment though, otherwise I would probably be using a Scotty
