Are you following through with you club if so thats why it is running a lot ...there are 2 different types of chips one where you just strike under the ball and not follow through. That will give you some loft and and wont run as much. Best to use a pw or a lw with this kind of shot.

Yeah I just googled and YouTubed some vids on it. They say it's best to use a PW or LW (Which I do) and then make sure 3 things happen. 1) The grooves of your club are clean. 2) The ball is a high spin/mid spin ball. 3) Striking the ball downward, therefore pinching it to give it spin.

Generally done with the ball further toward your back foot in your stance - stricking down on the ball without a lot of follow through - it will give it a lower trajectory but a lot of backspin causing it to "check up" rapdily.

The other option is open your stance and club a bit - play the ball forward in your stance - and hit a flop shot which will shoot higher and shouldn't roll out on you very far because the forward momentum isn't nearly as great.

#1 good ball (pro v1 or the like)
#2 clean grooves
#3 good lie ( no long grass behind the ball )
#4 clean contact on the ball FIRST.

for the ball to actually bounce once or twice then stop dead, i think you need to fly the ball atleast 20 -50 yards so it has enough spin

go talk to a pga professional

There are a few ways of getting a decent amount of backspin or getting it to drop and stick..

Turn your club face out, popping the ball higher in the air with less distance ( providing less forward moment giving a drop and sitck)

Or you could pinch the ball. aim about 25% into the ball on the back, striking the ball @ a more downward angle which will pinch the ball out
causing massive backspin (its hard but it works)
it sorta works like this, take the golf club, put in between your index finger and thumb. squeeze hard and the ball will eventually pop out with a good amount of spin.

if this hasnt solved your problem pm me and we can talk more about this.

The one hop and Stop - How i play it.

I play the ball off the inside of my back foot
I open my stance by moving my front foot back (back foot stays perpendicular to the target.
(playing the ball off the back foot helps make sure you hit the ball first on a more steep plane)
*for a long time I thought you had to come down on the ball and follow through taking a big divot to get more spin. *** not the case on pitch shots from 60 yds and in ***
I descend steeply on the ball but then RIGHT after I make contact I flatten out and hold the face open on the follow through so the ball kinda rolls up the face and makes more contact with more grooves.

This I how I do it and I can generate A LOT of spin like this.
Also, make sure you have a decent wedge, it does make a good bit of difference.
IMO Vokey Spin milled or Cleveland CG15

There is more than one way to impart more spin. Try everything mentioned here and you will probably find something that works for you.
