What's a good entry level make/brand line.

I've been working at a golf course last two summers and I don't do much other then hit up the driving range after work once in awhile.

But I'd like to get good so I figure start with getting some fitted clubs for me.

I don't want to cheap out, but I don't need shit like the brand new Taylormade R11

Friends brother who is CPGA certified has been teaching me a few things and I wanna get gooooooooood.

Budget 500-800

ask the Pro at the course you work at, he might be able to swing you a discount because you work there

i've seen really good prices on the 2011 nike slingshots and tommy armours. these clubs would actually be about $300 new in the store but eebay can get you them new most likely under 250. You don't need to spend 5-800 right now on clubs. these clubs will help you hit the ball straight with lots of forgiveness. after using these clubs for a few years to better your game you can think about spending a higher dollar amount on clubs. doing so now is just going to frusterate you in the end. just buy an older model of high handicap clubs for now and with time if you feel you need more control then you can buy a nicer set.

Recently got the taylormade burner 2.0s with the hybrids and they are amazing. I also bought the callaway octane driver and odyssey dart putter. Altogether it was probably around $600 or so.

callaway x-22 6-pw-sw $400
wood set(driver 3-5) $250
Hybrid, 60*, and putter of your liking...$300

if you get clubs that are worth repairing you wont end up with a bunch of different clubs with different weights. Callaway irons are the way to go, driver/putter area is up to you.

Can't really always go with callaway irons. Before I bought the burners, I tried out 3 diff sets for callaway and I wasn't able to hit them as far or as accurate as the burners. The only clubs that were better were the Nikes so I would suggest just going to a store that does fitting for free if you buy a set and just test all the clubs out and purchase the ones that are best for you

The day it was released. Now... you could probably get a new one for less than 200.
