recently i purchased a taylor made 52 degree because my 0-100 yard game was average at best
but some people i golf with own 52, 56 and 60 degree wedges
I own a 15 year old 60 but its very dinged up and im not confident with it
Should i just practice and get good with a 52 from 0-100 or should i get more clubs?

usually what i do is use a 56 wedge around 40 yards in, if your confident in your club, and a pitching wedge for farther than that

it does me good almost everytime (the 56 of course)

I have gone through this same dilemma, except I don't even have a 52. Just a pitching wedge.

What I have noticed from some friends of mine who are really good at golf, they have a 47 (pitching wedge), 52, 56, and a lob wedge (around ~64 degrees, usually used in sand bunkers around the green).

You have to be really good though to hit a lob wedge. You can swing full speed on that baby and it will on go 20 yards, but thats the point. High trajectory, little distance. I can't hit my buddies lob wedge.

I'll be going with a 52 and 56 myself. maybe one day down the road when I get good, I'll get a 60-64 degree (somewhere in that range)

Just my 2 cents :)

i carry a pw - 48 , gap - 52 , sand - 56 , and lob - 60.

for years i didnt carry a gap and i had a void from about 110 - 90 y as it was hard for me to hit a sand wedge 90 + yards.

Now with each wedge being 4 degrees difference i feel like i can hit more accurate shots from 120 yards and in.

and yes hitting a full lob wedge is tough.

if i have a wedge in my hand i xpect to get within 10 feet. so thats why i have 4 wedges. better distance control.

I would atleast get a 56 , its helpfull in sand traps because it has more bounce, and you need that to blast the ball out.

Do you not have a 3 iron then?

At op, I have a lob and a 52. My lob is 60/10 and I like it quite a bit. I feel real comfortabl with my pitch from anything over about 40 yards though. My 52 works for sand shots fairly well.

I have a pitching wedge that goes with my set I think it's 47 degrees, 2 cleveland wedges at 53 and 59 degrees. I bent them myself with my loft / lie machine.

My 59 goes 100 yards
My 53 goes 120 yards
Pitching wedge 140

Inside of 100 yards I will use the 59 degree for almost every shot. I suggest that you do that with your 56

You hit your 59 degree from 100 yds? I got a 60/10 which I wonder how far I hit. I don't hit my clubs real far yet since I'm still working on makingthe swing motion more natural. I'm sure my club swing speed is pretty slow still but that is fine for now. I currently am getting a good feel for how far I hit my clubs each.

clubhead speed with a driver is 120mph, which gives me 300+ depending on conditions

Yea, I don't swing with my full strength yet because the golf swing isn't quite natural yet for me. I'm still pretty newbie. If I try and swing to hard, I have no control. I have done real well at cutting out my slice so I'm striking the ball and it travels straight fairly consistently now. Sometimes it has a slight natural fade(fade is to the right for right handed?)
