So currently have a level 24 priest because in my group of friends, no one's playing a healer so I thought I'd play it.
The problem is, I feel useless in pve (low dmg) and especially in pvp when we do 1 v 1 I get rocked like no tomorrow.
I know I'm pretty bad but all of my friends started with me and I see no real example as to why they're at 50% hp when I'm dead. Are priests just bad at pvp?

I was thinking of making a paladin to tank and heal myself if needed in dungeons and such since I feel like it may be a bit more entertaining than a priest. My question is-
As a paladin, will I be able to do well in pvp or will I constantly be getting interrupted/juggled?
Also, should I go for more of a crusader or guardian build for both pvp/pve hybrid.

If either of these classes can do fairly well in both pvp and pve, which classes would you suggest?

for PVE, if u mean regular dungeons then they both dont do well because they dont clear dungeons fast due to lack of large dmg skills as well as aoes.

if youre referring to nests such as cerb/manti/apoc then priest is more effective

if youre referring to sea dragon then both classes are needed, priest as a full support and paladin as tank

both are actually really good pvp classes

PVE meant the regular "instances" (no idea what they're called) like Astral cavern laboratory.
as far as pvp, any tips for priest pvp if I'm going full support?

Priest:
i would say most pvp priests i have seen will put down their ward and run around them casting aoe and healing themselves, the key is to not get interrupted as you are putting the ward down.

in high level runs (ie. manticore) i hear they are very popular and are easily accepted into runs (if u went support - u can lean more towards dmg which leads to inquisitor at lvl 50 or more towards healing which leads to bishop at lvl 50 - lvl 50 is not out yet on NA server).

Paladins:
i have fought my friends paladin 100s of times and there is a move called "aerial block" that can block a move in a timed cooldown while being juggled in the air (very good move). Paladins are excellent pvpers once you get the grasp of it.

what i have seen on a few pve paladins is that they get both 50% animation speed reduction kick plates (quite expensive) and will spam kick on the boss which actually does surprising amounts of damage.

Overall, clerics are a very good class and its really what u want to play and how u want to play it. best of luck~

both cleric classes are pretty OP in PVE and PVP if you play them right. Right now the best PVPers, in my opinion, in order are.. paladin, elemenalist, acrobat, priest. When it comes to PVE priests are widely accepted into parties and later skills make them effective at killing as well as healing.
