scripts are small pieces of code that are usually necessary to resolve some small compatibility issue....they can also be worse than the black plague ^^

IMO...never ever use MSN....including using messenger. There are many much safer options.

In answer to ur question...I have no idea whether it's a necessary script or a malicious one. But if you just don't want to see the pop-up message, that's easy...

Just go to START > and type: services.msc
to open the Windows Services window...scroll down to the services that start with the letter S and look for security Center...that can be disabled and stopped. Just right click the service and you'll see the options.

Further, Windows comes with about 90 services set to automatic and started....you only need about 20-25 actually running. The rest either slow down ur internet or you processor (CPU). SO..this cool guy made a website: http://www.blackviper.com/

just go to that site scroll down the page a little till you see the different operating systems (Windows versions) in middle of screen. Choose Windows 7 ... 32 or 64 bit...w/e you have. ( x86 = 32bit)
Then just click on your Windows version and you see all you windows services....generally I use the settings for each service that are found in the column marked: "safe"

Also if at his website you click on the service name....you actually get a description of what it does...that's understandable by humans lol

Tip:s when setting up ur services, which you definitely should do....when u get to any service that has to do network, internet, wireless telephone, telnet etc...if the "safe" column says to disable it...do so ...BUT immediately close browser and make sure you can still connect...if you just do all the services at once and THEN find out you lost internet..ur gonna be pissed, coz you won't know which services was the one that caused it ^^

Summary:

YES you definitely want to "do ur services settings" for both comp speed and comp security reasons....see pic below of my services...remember I'm on Win XP on a stand allone comp...no router no other online comps in my house. So some net related settings may be different tween mine and urs.

Lastly.....some programs make services in here also...those you will have to decide on yourself...like in the "S"s you'll see I have a ton of Symantec (Norton) Anti Virus Settings...I just leave them alone. Norton Ghost is my backup software so I leave it alone...and vsmon... and true vector internet...are both parts of Zonealarm Firewall I use...

So be careful...if ur not sure google it first..it may be a service you need ^^

blackvipers website ONLY lists the services that come WITH windows, so keep that in mind as well....also...depending on what (didn't come with Win 7) but is still a Microsoft product...may or may not be listed.

If you have any questions or want me to walk you thru it...I can call anywhere in US or Canda...and it's free ..or you can call me at 412-758-5403
