Looking for some programs and such that could be useful to record music with.

A friend of mine has a mac with some "garage band" thing on it & it works nicely.

Anything like that would be helpful if anybody knows of any programs such as that.

Audacity is a great free recording program. I use it all the time

It's pretty basic however considering it's free, it's a very good program.

I'm not firmiliar with "Audacity" but I know there are many various programs available for you free at CNet, I forget if it is .org or .com, or other but you can google it if you are not firmiliar with the site.

There are a lot of freeware sound "Mixer" "Mixboard" and "Soundboard" programs that allow you to record instruments, singing or other sound effects seperately and layer them, time them, and control their invidiual volume as well as add audio effects like fading/ flange effects.

Also some of these programs have hundreds or even thousands of prerecorded background beats, short instrumental effects, and fabricated/prerecorded sound effects.
