We just got TV installed in our apartment, but I told the guy to not install anything in my room. I have an old box from the same company that they left and never picked up. Figured I'd try it out so I don't have to pay to rent a newer box. However, it says the terminal is locked, and to enter a pin. Probably a long-shot, but any idea on how to unlock this thing? 0000 as a pin number gives me a black screen, and I don't see any "reset" button on the back of it.

Disclaimer: I did not steal the box, nor am I stealing any service from this company. I am simply looking to bypass renting their hardware.

I have no idea how these boxes work. It needs to be remotely activated by the company? I wasn't sure, 'cause we just got 3 boxes installed in my apartment, and none of them had to have anything done to them. They were simply plug-and-play.

The pin is a security feature used specifically to stop people from stealing/pirating their product.

It would still be considered 'cheating' the system since the box is not yours.
