I work currently with a company but by the end of the month they are losing there contracts, So I got other stuff lined up but my question is this.

Is it illegal for a company to take you in for training but not pay you? He told me to come in whenever I want do and take the test after about 5 days of training.. But he said he will only pay me if I pass... So I'm going in on my own free time and money..

Like is that stupid or what? I have another job coming to me next Tuesday so it dont matter.. I just wanted to know if that was illegal or something.

Doesn't sound illegal to me, as long as it was training and not actual work lol.
Depending on the job, sometimes it's necessary to go through training like that in order for the employer to see if you have what it takes and to get you adjusted to the new things.
You won't always be paid for this training process.

Yea that makes sense. I was just curious becuz they way he went about it was weird. But he wants to make sure I know the job then he will pay me.. I understand that. But it wouldent matter anyway, I'm taking the job next tuesday. I just wanted to know more about that.

Eh yeah, I will say that 5 days is pretty long for just training. Probably for the best that you have another job lined up ;)

Best of luck with it!

Yea.. I agree.. It's like if I go in for 5 days 8 hours a day right, Then I fail the test or something I dont get paid.. I can re-due the test whenever I want.. But to me seems like a headach and a waste of time. But thank you very much.

Many companies will compensate you for training, some however, do not.

It is not illegal as far as I know.

It is incentive for people to be serious about not only obtaining employment at that specific company but also paying attention during the training

enough so that they "pass" the course.

They may use this as a way to not end up paying slackers to essentially get paid to watch some videos having no intention of filling the job.

IMO take what you can get in this economy.

I agree with you.. We need to take what we can and not be lazy. My plan is to take the traning do the test and also take the test with the other company so my doors are more open. (Armed guard service in canada is what I'm doing.)
