First off, if this is not the right forum to post this is, please tell me.

But anyways my friend has had some issues with his computer and would like to format it to try and fix it. He has everything he wants on an external hard drive (music, pictures, etc) but he doesn't have any of the restore disks made for re-installing everything after he formats his computer. Can someone please post how to do this and if anything else is needed before he formats this.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure you can download the stuff you need from the computer manufacturer's site.. sometimes they do this.

Go find out on the specific site. I'd link you, but you haven't told us the kind of computer, so just google it :) It's easy enough.

If you are unable to find it, then you're gonna need to go buy another disc (Or your friend will, anyways :P )

Most computers now do not come with restore disc's they make a partition on the hard drive to restore from.

Nowadays most thing are available for download.

As suggested a manufacturers official site would most certainly be a good place to check.

Might cost like 10$ to get a replacement restore disk from wherever you got your PC.

I was more asking if someone could tell me how to make the restoration discs. He hasn't formatted it yet (or as of a couple hours ago) so he would still be able to make them. I made mine when I setup my computer but I'm just not able to find the application I used to make them.
/Edit:
His computer is an HP with Windows 7.
