I'd like to merge two partitions cause that's just abit useless to have two if I only need one at once
I would like to know first of all how to do it, you guys maybe have a better way than what I found on the internet, cause I'm just scared by the idea of deleting the empty partition.. I don't know if the full one is gonna get bigger or if it'll just delete.. I am really really unaware of all that. Also, I have the possibility to reduce the volume of my D: and by doing that, does the C: increases?

If you reduce the volume of your D, it will probably create an empty... nothing.. for the amount that you decrease it. You'll have to decrease the D and increase the C.

I'm not entirely sure how to do this because I do it on my Mac and it has boot camp which makes it really easy, but my advice would be to use the OS installer disc, see what you can get by pressing the f10 (I think its f10) key when you load up your computer.

To my knowledge, I had to erase my stuff on the partitions to re-partition... however, you could easily make a back up of everything.. although you'll need a large external hardrive to hold your stuff.

Good luck :)

Well I just tried deleting a bit of my D: which was empty, I had another 50gb of free space however I couldn't extend the C: for a reason which I don't know. Do I have to delete the complete D: to extend C?

Google is your friend.

Within Windows XP And Windows Vista

Open the Control Panel.
Open Administrative Tools.
Open Computer Management.
In the left pane, under Storage, open Disk Management.
The right pane should show a list of your drives, by letter, above a diagram of what partitions they have if any.
Right-click within any of the fields below the colored bars, and select Delete Partition.

If you don't have XP/Vista, google it for whatever OS you're running.

I assume you need to delete the partition and remake it bigger if you want to.

Just back everything up and do it. It's simple, honestly... use the post above me

Usually C: is your main drive and when you partition a drive into multiple parts, it'll install all your critical files onto your main (C:) so usually getting rid of partitions is safe AFAIK.

Not sure why you didn't see an increase in size of your C:....

Partitions are a bit funny. It shows you |--C--||--D--|

Partitions can only extend to the right. This means C cannot extend because D is in the way.
There is no way to move D besides deleting it, expanding C and recreating D.

Hope this helps.
