You already have a topic please stick with that one ;)

Besides that, are you sure its not a virus causing your mom to have that problem?

General help's answer to every computer problem ever.

Obviously it isn't a virus, OP; is it a case where you can literally access nofeatures whatsoever without this password? It specifically warms you that the computer will be unusable if you forget the password, so I've got no idea how she would enter it by mistake; nevertheless, you might have to reinstall the entire OS. I'm not sure there is another way other than guessing the password based off passwords you use for other things.

if you can't remember the system password, there is no way to come into the bios menu.
i would either search a computer specialist OR reinstall your OS ( put cd into and it should run / install itself)

You will more than likely have to reinstall your OS.

There should have been a hint put in when the password was applied.

She would have had to enter the password twice (correctly entered) in order to apply one to the system thus making it that much more likely that

she applied the password to keep people out rather than by accident.

Yes, I know it's not a virus (although the computer most likely does have one or more viruses, this isn't what this is.)
yes after a few times of entering the password wrong it says System Disabled.
Thanks

Wow, two people who know what they're talking about.
You're sure the computer wil reinstall itself if I just put in the disc ?
I'm not sure if she has a recovery disc.. it might be just an OS disc.. Which means she'll lose everything including factory installed things.. right ?
Thanks

it's not a USER password, it's a SYSTEM password.
And I hate people that add they're two cents like you just did, SHe thinks she knows everything about computers but she knows very little, So somehow she got into BIOS and set the password, and she has a shitty memory among other things, and forgot it, hence can't access anything, It says System Disabled once you enter the wrong PW a few times.

Boot a linux live cd, mount hard drive

modify the file where the password is stored using an editor

reboot with what password you set it to

profit

Here is a link to how to do it via a account itself

Its almost the same with the SYSTEM password just find it not hard if you're a computer nerd.

You're best bet if you can't follow the guide is to just reinstall.

This might help you too
