So like if I grab a link from youtube and post it on my own site.

Do I need a user agreement or something?

My scenario is :

If I grab a piece of music from youtube that was made by an indies musician (not one of the big pop artists), and put it on my site, does this violate anything?

Thanks

I dunno, it probably does violate the "protect i.p act"
But if you put under the video in letters people can see "I do not own this music, or any rights to this music, this is for promotional purposes only "
That usually stops you from getting in shit for copyright.

Thanks, the link was too general but I have been reading up on some laws.

Basically, there is a whole mess between music sheet/music recording copyright laws. And I just need to know whether I can post a youtube link on something.

I mean everybody post youtube links, but what if you were to do it for profit...

Njag makes profit off d2jsp and people post youtube videos... i guess it all depends if your making profit because of the videos or if the videos are just there.

Not making profit of the video, but because videos are there.

The profit comes from the site, and the videos are there basically as a sign that the site is actually active. Like people posting random music videos there that are NOT from major producers u know

Major artists or not , it's not your work or video.
Just give proper credits and it should be fine in my opinion.

Unfortunately, with that attitude, NOTHING in this world will be done.

Only through risk can we gain something. And I intend to minimize my risk as high as possible
