Regarding: Political and Religious discussion.
JSP is making a decision about topics we discuss. Higher-ups telling people whats ok to talk about.
The name of this forums section is Political and Religious Discussion. If the topic is over used what difference does it make? I think the mods own personal beliefs guide the Forum Decorum more then rules against spam. If spam were an issue 80% of the users who post there would be in violation. These topics are all considered Religious or Political and cant be discussed:
Marijuana legalization threads
"How to get into heaven when you die”
God isn't real threads/God exists threads
Bible passage threads for sake of spam
(There are no restrictions on Satanisim, Mormon, scientology, ect.) How many posts could I make about the devil being the real god before you closed them? If I want to tell people how to practice sacrificial rituals in the name of Satan would that be allowed? If I said scientology was a load of crap would my post be closed? If I said the book of Mormon was a complete lie and a scam Is that against the rules? Why is the Judaic god the only topic needing protection? These statements or questions may seem like insults but they are Still religious and aren't on your list of banned topics. That seems like special treatment.
Marijuana is a major industry in America. Legal or illegal. It could save or destroy us and is an Important discussion in regards to politics and economics. How about the paper and plastic companies not wanting to legalize marijuana because of hemp? That's Incredibly political!!!! Why is it banned??
Yes these topics have been done to death. Who cares? The idea of discussion is to bring new ideas regarding topics we know of. If you are trying to regulate spam close EVERY POST THAT IS MADE in Political and religious discussion. Did you know that 80% of the people making posts in response to other posts don't even read the Original posts provided? (Not an actual statistic) In my two recent threads more then 80% of the people Openly admitted to Not reading any of the source information. How can you discuss something that you never read? My point is
Limiting the topics allowed that are within the definition of a section is a form of censorship.Your doing nothing to stop spam only limiting opening topics. Example: Forum discussion about cats Mods will close threads involving a Tammy. Tammy's are too popular///////. So? Everything that fits within the Forum sections description are Fair game! Regardless of the Mods views. I understand you dont have the time to read every post in a topic and the vast majority of spam goes unchecked, you cannot tell people what to discuss in sections made for that kind of discussion.
If you had the ability to read every topic and every post you would see that MOST of the things said are an attack on someones beliefs or thoughts. Flaming and spamming are out of control in that section. You are doing nothing to stop it other then censoring overrated topics. If your intention is to stop spam then you're failing. If you have problems with one or most of the topics forbidden then your committing political censorship, and it needs to stop.
