Hey, I purchased CoD4 about 2 years ago and I bought a new laptop (Asus, if the brand mattered.)

Anyway, I updated all my Punkbuster files for CoD4 and I still get kicked from the game for the following reasons:

125088
125116

Both of which I believe are reasons because there is something running as an overlay over my screen.

I disabled Steam Community in- game so it's not an overlay and I have also made sure no programs such as Fraps are running.

I am all out of ideas and I just wish to play my game so it's not a waste of $50 (Remember I bought it 2 years ago)

From the little research I just did about it, if you turned off all of your overlays then it's a punkbuster problem.

Not having much knowledge of the subject I suggest you try re-installing/re-updating your punkbuster files.

Good luck.

The thing is, I bought this new laptop preloaded with a bunch of Asus software and I'm not sure if any of them are running as an overlay, is there any way i can tell?

Ctrl + Alt + Delete

Check your programs/processes and terminate anything you have running that shouldn't be.

I know, but I don't know which programs/ services running are actually needed for my computer to run properly, I don't want to go ending tasks like a madman, mind you.

Understandable. Most of your processes should be safe to be honest with you. It should be any background applications you want to look out for.

Do you have TeamViewer tethered to your computer? That is always running in the background. Don't end any processes that say SYSTEM or NETWORK or LOCAL SERVICE. Anything under your username could be fair game for termination without too much damage. You would want to double check what you're ending obviously but some stuff clearly shows what it is.

Good luck.

Thanks a bunch, I just updated my video card driver, I'll post if something changes in case someone else might have this problem.

I'm going to sleep, will check back tomorrow to see if there's anything else I can find for you (if you still have the problem).

Hope this gets fixed :)

Bah, still no fix and I ended practically all my processes (Well not all, but a large majority that seemed unimportant)

I'm really trying to avoid opening a ticket with Punkbuster because they take weeks to get back to you, which is ridiculous.
