Hello, I recently donated $25 and selected the star upgrade & possible donor forum access. I haven't received any messages or emails telling me I've been under review/accepted/rejected.

It's been 1 or 2 days so I was just wondering if I was supposed to of received some kind of message so far.

You won't receive any notifications. If you got access to the Donor Forum the forum will appear above General Help.

And you should have given the fg to a mediator, then it takes time for someone to take your fg for the 25$ star, when it is taken you will receive a pm confirming it, so you need to wait

What is the average/max wait time to where I know I didn't receive access?

There isn't a time, you need to wait until someone takes your 25$ donation, and when this is done, you MAY get donor forum access it is not guaranteed.

I wasn't donating for someone else, I was donating for myself so no fg was involved. I went to the donate page and selected "donate for myself" then selected "star upgrade & possible donor forum access" then entered $25 and donated.
