Speed test says download speed is .46 Mbps when I'm paying for 5.. What do I do? Anything I can do without having to call them? Not sure if there's some common fix...

Also there are random like lag spikes.. Like every once in a while for like 15 seconds it will be slow that I can't even open a page.

Call your ISP. (Internet Service Provider)

Have you tried doing a disk clean up or a defragment?

Doing these should speed you up

Why would this help my internet connection speed?

Mine was working shityer than usual, so i cleaned out my cookies for the first time in 2 or 3 months.
I didnt think it would speed up my internet, i thought it would just speed up my browser.
But my internets working alot better now, at least i can actually watch youtube in 360p w/o it always buffering.
Try that maybe.

it would help your overall comp speed therefor speeding up your connection...


also trying downloading a program that optimizes you connection speed, there are numbers set in your registry and your internet browser that can slow your connection way down if there not set right
