okay so this morning at 7 am i was playing diablo, no problem at all..

now its 4pm and i just got off work, any time i open diablo (in windowed mode/non windowed mode) my cpu jumps to 100% and the program wont open until i click it again..
the only way to get my cpu to drop back down is if i logoff/reboot or kill the d2 process tree in task manager...
i have tried all compatibility modes...
wth is going on?

im running windows 7 home premium 64 bit
2gb ram with 2.2ghz single core celeron ( ew )

anyways.. no problems before, ever... now all the sudden this..

only happens with d2..

any ideas? any help is muchhhhh appreciated, because im a computer tech and im bangin my head on wall

Have you already restarted your computer? Does this also happen when playing other games?

Completely removing Diablo 2 (also use RegCleaner or CCleaner) and reinstalling a clean, new version should solve the problem.

In the compatibility screen in properties you can try to "disable visual themes"

You can also try disabling the other options below it.
