Hi,

I'm situated in Sweden and need to do some research on other websites in Europe but a lot if websites are targeted towards their own countries. So for example if a banner is running on a website in Germany I wont be able to see it when I enter the website because I'm in Sweden.

I think there are some programs that allows you to change your IP-address to any country you want, this would probably help but I wanted to check if anyone knows a better or more simple way to do this.

Thanks!

You can't change the country your IP shows, because it comes from your Internet Service Provider, which is located in your country.
However, you can use a proxy. Basically, instead of the data going from your computer to the ISP to the website, it goes from your computer to the ISP to the proxy and then to the website. The proxy shows the website it's own IP, so if you choose a Spanish proxy then website will identify you as Spanish.

There might be an easier way, and that would be that you change your user agent to the googlebot

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent]
@="Googlebot/2.1"
"Compatible"="+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html"

and in order to restore,

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent]
@="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)"

Not sure if it will work, but it might (and it should) :)
It is also only used at internet explorer, not on firefox :)

Either way, ur other options are proxies vpns and online proxies

Thanks for your help, I just tried using a German proxy for a website in Germany. It did not work, however this website might be a bit tricky since they are world wide and have a page for each country it will always select the country you situated in. I tried using two different German proxy's but I was sent to the Swedish website anyways.

The googlebot seems a bit high tech :p

I've tried proxy's before, but i used Swedish ones so I thought this would help, doesnt seem like it though.
