Yesterday i found a droid x2 while at work.
After looking through the phone i realized it belonged to someone on a different shift.
I opened messages and there was a bunch of texts from the owner stating, he was reporting it stolen and cutting the service.
I was going to turn it in to my boss, but like the texts said, the service was off within an hour of me finding it.
So i decided to keep the phone, i did a factory reset when i got out of work.
Now when i turn it on, i can only get the home screen from activating the phone to a plan.
So, my question is, if i try to activate it, what is going to happen.
I mean, should i go to Verizon first?
Its, linked to Verizon, i dont think anything else can be used.

TL;DR
found phone
its reported stolen
can it be activated again

If you activate now you will be arreasted for theft. Turn it in now. Phones these days can be tracked and each has a Serial number that tells the phone company if there are any flags on it. Besides would you want your phone to go mißsing and never get it back?

Arrested, doubtful.
People lose phones all the time.
Every lost phone is reported stolen and deactivated.

Any other opinions?

Warning messages sent. That means plausible deniability just ran away with you intellect. You reset phone, intent. Oh wait, didn't I mention tracking? I believe I did. What you aren't getting is the serial numb on the phone identifies it. Companies scan/input the number into there system to reactidate the phone they will know it is stolen. Dude just turn it in and grow up.
