i currently have light gray star and ive been told that i should have a higher star by now since ive donated 50$ 3 times for fg and 40$ 1 time..

You get more stars and other colors by further donating. However, if you have actually donated the amount that you have stated, then you should be able to use many other stars than just that grey one.

Are you sure that you donated and didn't buy forum gold? Also, how long ago did you make this donation? It can take 3-5 ish days normally.
