Installed d2 last night via digital download. Well game runs fine except for i cant hear sound effects, i.e. items droping, shooting a fb, etc. Ive turned to bnet, blizz, and google with no help. Any solutions?

what operating system are you using?

did you put a -ns tag in the target field of the shortcut? (-ns means no sound)
remove it if you did

is diablo the only game without sound?

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
There is no -ns in the tag.
Yes. The 3d sound and enviortment sound are "grayed" out. I cant use them

Have you made sure that sound works on your other games?
Have you tried updating your sound driver?

Yep, everything works fine EXCEPT for the sound effects.
Drivers are up to date.

Well, typically when you can't change the sound settings at all, that means your sound driver isn't supporting it.
That's the only thing I can think of, sorry.
