It may or may not be, I understand this I guess..

Are all the calls atleast recorded and stored in a database for a given time?

Or are some calls recorded, some not...

ISO as much info about this as possible.

Thank you.

Usually you get asked, if you want your call to be recorded or not, because the company wants to be safe, if anything in future happens (like going to law) - same for you.
You must be aware that you are able to choose between both options, if it's done without your approval, it cannot be used as evidence later.
The time varies from company to company/office to office, some save it forever, others for a certain time like a week, month or whatsoever.

They are recorded I have access to recorded calls through our support system at my job. I can see what was said to who and what went on via the problem and the support. Its not really a bad thing they aren't used for anything but the companies own protection and to tell if a support staff is guilty or not of a an accusation.

Its not necessarily a bad thing. I was voting via text for a contest and had over 10,000 votes sent in and they told us this was not free and we were being charged.
When we heard this we called and were told that there is no charge so I continued to vote. We ended up getting a bill for ~$400 but got it all back because they checked the phone records and we were told that we would not be charged and they followed through on it.
