Today when I was logging into the steam network it gave me a bunch of shit like "you have never accessed this account on this machine before yada yada yada..."

Then I tried relogging and it said "couldn't connect to the steam network" I tried checking if my account name or password was correct and I'm 100% positive they are. It now says "That account was not found. Please enter the correct account name you use to log into steam"


Any ideas on how to fix this?

They have implented a new security system, you must verify that it's you on every different computer you're trying to access your account, you should have received an email. Or did you already do the verify step?

No I have received nothing from steam besides the ones from registering with steam support.

Are you sure that it is the same email your account has also been registered with?

The email should look like this, addressed from Steam Support:

Quote
Dear -user-,

We've received a request to access your Steam account from a new computer
or browser.

To complete this process, enter the following special access code into the
authorization dialog before trying to log in again: -code-

If you did not attempt this action, please change your password immediately.

Yes the account is linked to my current email. I can't find any email looking like what you just posted and under account settings the "security status" is just blank.

I found this on the steam forum:

I never received the verification email message from Steam Support. What should I do?

If you do not receive the email message from Steam Support and you are running a Spam filter, check and make sure the message has not been filtered as spam.

If you are still unable to receive the verification email, you will need to contact Steam Support: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1223-QROC-4460

So check your spam filters and if there's still nothing, you have to open a support ticket there.

My verification email was filtered as spam by the way.

There is nothing. I will try what you said.

I just tried logging on again and this time it worked. No idea what the problem was but it seems to be in order again. Thanks for the help!

Also that security feature seems to be working now.
