Ok, Ill try to make this short and to the point best I can..

3 Weeks ago I financed a sports bike(got a basically brand new bike for half the price of new)

When I bought the bike, it was a saturday, my insurance agent was closed and I wanted to ride the bike then, so I just started calling around for full coverage insurance since full coverage is required when financing a vehicle

I got on the phone with a ladie through SAFECO insurance and when I got on the phone I told her "Im looking to get full coverage insurance for my motorcycle, preferably cheap.."

I was iso the cheapest possible full coverage insurance because with a couple tickets and me being 24, full coverage insurance on a sports bike is kind of ridiculous.

ANyways after awhile she gives me a price, its surprisingly cheap.. so I agree, hung up the phone and went to ride this bad motherfucker since I was insured the second I hung up.

Now, last friday it was stolen from my driveway.

I call SAFECO make the claim, a few hours later an adjuster calls me and tell me I wasnt covered for comprehensive damage, which includes theft. And when I basically was like wtf? She says it is possible the person I spoke with put me under the wrong policy.

I told them I want my bike paid for because I specifically asked for full coverage.

I told them to review the phonecall I made when I was getting the insurance, since when I call them it says -> this call may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance

What if they cant find the phone call? Then there is no record of me asking for full coverage..

Shouldnt it be completely obvious anyways that I would be purchasing full coverage since the bikes on a loan?

Any legal or other advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Ur 1st & primary option is to try & work it out with ur insurance company

You should have been sent a detailed Policy discription & Temprary INS card

The Policy will inform u of what u are covered on & limitations/restrictions

If u have received it plz review it to see what coverage u have

Ur other course of action is to seek legal advice from a local law office

There may be somethings u can do regarding u requesting Full coverage & them not providing it or putting u on a differant policy u did not request... But each state is differant on its laws & a licensed legal representative can give u the proper advice for u

Like the guy said above me, Safeco should have mailed you out your complete policy in paper. It may take a few days to process or complete, so maybe it hasn't arrived yet. When you get it, or if you have it already look it over to see if you were covered or not. If somehow they made an error, its gonna be difficult to argue with them. If they are adamant that you weren't on full then I would definitely use that as your main argument that if you weren't covered then they made another error in giving you that policy in the first place since it has to be fully covered since it was financed. If they won't listen then your best bet is to seek some legal advice.
