Does not work if you use windows xp home edition.
Operating system doesn't matter - it's completely router based, not windows based.
You're not changing your ghost mac address of your NIC card on your machine, you're changing the ghost mac address on your router that's directly connected to your modem - if you was directly connected to your modem and not connected via a router, you'll then proceed to do a ipconfig /release/renew, however - sometimes this doesn't work due to your systems ghost mac address on your operating system will remain the same and you'll need to manually change it.
Linux, Windows, MAC - Router is a completely different OS/system; My router is Linux supported, however it has a webGUI that allows me to change the ghost mac address of it more easier than manually doing it via SSH
