Okay so this is a bit of an advanced issue and instead of just pming paul about it i figured i'd open it up to everyone first. here is my problem.

When playing LS i get extreme lag, most likely caused by packet loss on the network. I can ping ladderslasher.d2jsp.org at an avg of 25ms. I tracert with no drops. I know the port that it is connecting on is 8181 is it possible to make it use a different port since most likely this is due to high volume on this port. If anyone has any other opinions on this or think they know what could solve it let me know i'm open to almost everything. Just to help rule out other common problems here is what i have as a network and have tried.

My network is a 30mb connection shared on a community college network of about 2500 systems. The bandwidth is fine since my ping is still low and i can dl stuff rather fast.
I have updated my flash to the latest. cleared cache and cookies. Hell i've even reformatted this system. I've tried other browsers. Nothing seems to fix the issue.

Question is can LS be run on any other port than 8181? and if so how do you change it to do that? (before anyone asks the port is open it is just high traffic on the port that causes the issue.)

fg reward if your fix works

Things to keep in mind.

A) The network is the property of the university, not you, and that gives them every right in the world to say what can and can't be done on it/with it.

B ) Attempting to change any port and causing problems with the server will result in
1) Immediate expulsion (with no refunds)
and
2) Legal charges

So, the question you need to ask yourself is, ''Is it worth it playing Ladder slasher under all these circumstances''?

I wouldn't recommend that. And by the way I am sure there is a Admin restrictions and for sure you cannot access it, unless you hack it which is absolutely not allowed to talk about here.

And for your issue, it can only be done by ISP. ISP provides different ports, you cannot just randomly change it, as this will cause big drama in your college if the internet goes out.

Thanks for the reply however

A) They can't block certain traffic, that is against the freedom of information act, which states a public facility must not block access to any website(that is a rough wording not exact.) They are still allowed to filter traffic which is happening here.

B ) I work for the IT department I do not attend classes so both of your points don't bother me.

I'm simply asking for ideas some people may have. I've opened up everything i've tried other stations on the Network, i'm just frustrated that this has worked before and it doesn't work now...

I thought you were a student, you should have added that in your piece of information.

Since you are working for the IT department, then give a call to the ISP, I am sure they will set you up a port apart from the campus.

Set up a separate port just to play Ladder Slasher. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through.
