I am on hell a1, I was grushed there and then had to stop. I just tried to leech in a nightmare baal run, and couldn't go through the tp. What's the deal?

Correct, since you were grushed the ancients quest didn't count for you or any of the leachers for that matter. (Unless they were 40+)
You'll have to complete this quest In order to NM Baal.
