I tried to join a game with my Assassin and it gave me the message: Unable to join game, generic bad file.

I've heard of this happening before... but on single player. I have no idea how this happened to one of my online characters, and it's really pissing me off. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Its blizzard's fault it happen to one of my characters a and many other jsp users.
For it getting fixed not sure if possible i e-mailed them like 4 months ago and they never fixed it so i highly doubt it will be restored sorry m8.

Wow, that's just fucking ridiculous. I'm still gonna try to figure out if there's a way to fix this though. Thank God it was just my budget Bartucs trapper. If this happened to my Necromancer, I'd be pretty pissed.

It like you delete your singel player char file from D2 folder.
Blizzard server deleted your chat file so it doesnt reconise your char anymore in the server .
There's nothing you can do unless blizzard server will rollback before your char file got deleted.

Honestly, this is such bullshit. If I called Blizzard would they do anything about it?

Generic bad file means you Diablo II folder under the files of your assassin got corrupted, and in my point of view it will be hard to restore it. This sometimes happen randomly maybe from blizzard.

And actually no, Blizzard will not do anything about it, I am sure thousands of people get the same thing, and I am sure it happened for a reason like using any 3rd party program or anything.

most likely not,maybe insert a new character folder into ur d2 files?not sure if that can work though

It didn't happen for any reason I can think of. I don't have any hacks downloaded on my computer, nor do I have any mods or crap like that. It just occurred completely randomly.



I doubt this would work, but I'll give it a whirl.

Then give it a try by emailing them or calling them, but I highly and I mean very highly doubt they would do anything about it.

see if u can find a whole new assasin file,if not i might be able to find mine and give it to u,hope it works
