I've seen mods say that loans aren't supported, but i havent actually seen anybody say it was illegal until just now...

Just looked through the jsp site rules, and trading rules, and i didn't see anything that said "loan"
I have found these:

D2JSP Site Rules: No begging or requesting donations for any real or virtual goods, including, but not limited to, forum gold or money.
D2JSP Trading Rules: Do not beg for free items or forum gold, or any donation of any kind.
What you can not do with FG: Begging - You may not beg for Forum Gold.

But is asking for a loan actually begging? (Also, I was aking for a loan of ingame gold, not fg or involved with fg in any way)

IMO, a loan is a risk that a lender takes in hopes for a specific amount in return in a said timeframe.

The only place that i ever saw that a loan was considered begging is here, where it was already too late/somewhere that isnt shown in public:

Code
You have been suspended for violating our site rules and policies. Please review them at your earliest convenience:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=9

Your violation post: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=55608189&f=267&p=371359715#p371359715

Specifically, you violated Do not beg for forum gold. This includes, but is not limited to requesting loans.

Any further violations will result in more actions taken against your account.

Thanks for your attention and resolution of this issue.

So, is it actually fair that i got suspended for some rule that isnt even specifically stated in the D2JSP site rules?

ISO your opinion, because i know many people ask for loans, and many people have probably been suspended or warned for doing something they didnt know was against the rules.

Thanks for reading.

PS: It IS possible that i missed the thread/sticky that specifically says loans are illegal, and if so, please link it!

Loans are not illegal, but they're not supported either.
You can ask for loans or you can loan to other people, but this is all on your own risk ;)

E: Hey ;)

Well, he probably suspended you, because you made a thread asking for a loan. Those are not allowed.
If you're willing to ask for a loan, the best option is to PM someone you know.

But you're still better off making yourself the Forum Gold as you still have to make Forum Gold to pay it back anyways ;)

I wasn't asking for a fg loan, I wanted a rsgp loan. And where does it state that these threads aren't allowed? And no, it wouldn't involve fg in any way, because I would have made the cash back on my main I'm a few hours. I just wanted fast cash w/o selling gear to level my summoning lol, but I guess I'll just make it on my own tommorow.

And brb, gonna beat my dog for digging in the trash......

Requesting loans means to solicit alms more likely to make a humble or urgent plea. Since you're in distress or incapacitated to make your own forum gold or game currency, you now refer to a loan.
Nobody is entitled or have any liability to give you the loan, the site users do not act like a bank, therefore you will resort to begging just for the simple reason to make your request a success.
The message you get after the suspension should be enough for you to understand how the policy works. It's basically common sense.

So basically, you're assuming that I would have resorted to begging if my request wasn't met? I specifically stated that of I didn't get the loan by tonight, that I would just earn the cash myself; therefore, I also showed that I was completely capable of making my own money, but I also stated the reason why I needed this cash at the moment. I did not request from anybody specific, and they had the full right to reject my request by just leaving my topic. Also, where in the rules does it say that asking for a loan in a thread is illegal?

From seeing your previous responses towards me in the past, I pretty much expected the "it's basically common sense" remark, and a response that I'm expecting now is, "well, if you are capable of making your own money, why did you need a loan?"...

that part made me think it sounded like begging for FG. Making a topic requesting for a loan is pretty much the same as begging for fg.

I was under the impression that there were already threads up for people OFFERING loans, surely you could jump into one of those?

Since d2jsp does not support loans, asking for one is essentially begging for free forum gold. The only difference being when its not paid back, the donor doesn't get upset but the loaner does
