I can't install via battle.net so please don't post that

It says "Inster Diablo II- Lord of Destruction disk 1"

I don't have that?

I never had to use one of those before when I installed, what is that disk?

That is the Diablo II expansion play disk.
Do you mind if I ask why you can't download from the store?

That is strange it should say "play" "install" "cinematic" or "expansion"

Try each one of them and see if one of them are accepted.

Now I canceled the download to see if trying it again will work, and the very first disk they ask for is the "Diablo LOD Disc 1"

Did they change the installation process or something?

You can try deleting your Diablo II folder and if you are experienced with the registry you can get rid of the Diablo II entries and try again

If you try this make sure to back up the Screenshots etc you may have in the DII folder

I don't really see why that would change the installation process o.O
