1) I need something that will allow me to record what I'm doing on my computer screen.
2) I will also need software that will allow me to edit this video.

I hear cam studio is good. Saw someone use it to get a scammer locked in the s/a. http://www.camstudio.org/

I don't know if it is good for editing, I would use it but it's only meant for Windows and I use a Mac.

both are free

virtualdub is a powerful editor for avi files.. hypercam saves all of its files to .avi
