You were leaving a game or entering a game, at that exact millisecond someone's namebot was trying to pick PvM and it got nipped. Happened to me five times last season when I ran a namebot. I kept getting my own names and killing my characters right after reset. :/

I am almost entirely sure this is not the reason.

If it were true certain names would essentially never be safe to use due to massive attempts on them.

None of the names I lost this route had even been taken into a game.

I'm saying his namebot may have picked them up. <_< not someone elses.

You have to delete and remake your hero kind person of D2JSP. Good luck man.

character files get corrupted sometimes. You got lucky they were able to get it back. In the past they wern't able to recover them. I'm guessing they finally looked into this issue when there was a mass problem (relative) during the last reset and dozens of characters had this issue.

I am surprised they were able to recover this character (if they did)

Once someone else has the character all they are going to do is get the same kind of email from the new user since you can't have both on the same realm.

Seems like a vicious cycle waiting to happen in my opinion.

Although perhaps his error was non related to the normal glitch since his character was a daily used toon.
