AVG is pretty good I guess, the company I work for uses it and I hardly notice it.

But then again if you're going to be gaming on that machine expect lag regardless.

Mse is lighter, and better then avg. Try to see your ram usage. If it's almost 1gb, get a 1,5 or 2gb (total), with xp that's just fine.
37 process is ok, don't forget there are ton's of windows process in this, that you need.

Your machine is only running 1 GB of RAM, therefore if you are running multiple programs at once, then all of that RAM will most likely be used up, therefore I recommend you upgrade your RAM to at least 4 GB. Also, just like Paintball91 stated, clean your machine by running a "Disk Cleanup" and by running your "Disk Defragmenter". GL man and please send me a PM if you have any future questions or need more advanced information on how to speed your machine up.

Hello,

I am by no means computer illiterate, however my PC seems to be booting and navigating extra slow thru folders, menus, etc.

I have avast! antivirus, as well as a few registry cleaners like auslogics.

I have XP and not the best computer but Ive seen it run much faster

Processor 3.19GZ and 1 GB Ram
Has lots of free space, not really anything on it
I have tried basic things, such as disc defrag or disc cleaner

I am looking for possibly a new anti virus and other programs that may help
Money is not an issue, I will pay for something that may help

Also, any tips to try would also be nice

Thanks!

I just got your pm about the upgrade, from what is stated here, if you upgrade to 2-3 gb of ram you'll be fine. But still send me the DXDIAG screenshot so I can inform you further on this. Thanks.
