Beards, and neckbeards are fine. I sport one and I work in a very professional environment and I make great money.

Shave it and go for a goatee if you really want facial hair, looks more professional

Unless it is a beard of Billy Mays quality I suggest going in clean shaven.

Anything even remotely scraggly looking is going to be seen as lazy and unkept to an employer.

You can always grow a beard back but you cannot ever get a first impression back.
