Don't use a gaming head set, you pay outragiously for a piece of crap because it houses a mic, and speakers which features more parts and breaks mroe often.

Get a 15 dollar desktop mic, and any quality sound headphones for like 70 bucks and you will have a much better set up than any combined headset out there.

I don't entirely agree on this but halfway I do - My old SteelSeries sibera worked fine but the microphone didn't work good at all. I bought a $20 logitech headset from the local store here and the microphone worked PERFECT, very high quality (but it was a pain not having a microphone on the headset.. everytime I wanted to play a game I'd have to wrap that thing around my neck)
