I've used Avast for a long time and it performs nice, also has a neat GUI to it. I'd recommend avast, I believe there is a free "home edition".

Yup. Avast Home edition, only requires you to send a 'registration' form once every year and they send you a licence code to your email. Insert that into Avast and your PC is protected <3

Anti-virus programs are just phony.
You don't need one, if you're somewhat cautious.
I haven't had an anti-virus since like '07, only running Malwarebytes once a year and never even had a trojan.

And yes, I download stuff, but only from well-known sites.
